Who we are
OCV is a versatile, client-driven architecture firm making a better New York since 1973. Specializing in affordable and special-needs housing, the firm has partnered with many notable urban housing authorities and development groups to create multi-family housing, private homes, commercial spaces, schools, churches and community centers with great respect for each site’s urban landscape, history and culture. OCV achieves a balance of innovation and experience in project teams of diverse professionals working in a studio based environment. Our office community is unified by a single vision: to create a quality product that reflects our client’s needs and objectives. To assist in the pursuit of excellence and expand our capabilities, we maintain a full–time researcher and specifier to support partners and project managers in the area of sustainable design and environmental issues.OCV has been practicing in the New York Metropolitan Area since 1973, and enjoy a varied practice, with completed projects in residential, commercial, and institutional design. We provide a complete service, from conceptual planning to construction supervision, for a diverse clientele of corporations, public agencies, community and church groups, and private individuals. In all our projects we endeavor to maintain the degree of design excellence for which we have received numerous awards.
The partners — Jack Coogan, Richard Vitto and Sara Arnold — are all lifelong New Yorkers with deep roots in the community for which they work and create. Graduates from Cooper Union and Pratt Institute, they have crafted from sweat equity beginnings a comprehensive design firm with a full time staff of 18 professionals.
